Minnesota for Web-Wise Travelers started as a collection of regional website links on Brendan's Island. Today, it is a growing directory of over 700 places to go and things to do in Minnesota. |
This site divides Minnesota, and a small part of North Dakota, into 10 regions: Flatland: the Red River Valley of the North, a vast expanse of level farmland which includes the largest metropolitan area of North Dakota. Loonland: Minnesota's northern lake country, where farms, meadows, and forests surround thousands of lakes, rivers, and streams. |
Oreland: the two iron mining regions of Minnesota. Shoreland: Minnesota's North Shore, from Duluth-Superior to the Canadian border. Centerland: where the grasslands of southern Minnesota become the lake-spattered woods of the north. Millacaland: Minnesota lake country north of the Twin Cities, including Mille Lacs. |
Riverland: Minnesota's side of St. Croix River country. Minnemetro: the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, plus their suburbs. Grainland: Minnesota's southwestern farm land, home of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum in Walnut Grove. Bluffland: southeastern Minnesota, from the limestone bluffs of the Mississippi River to the city of Rochester. |
